Following a record-breaking month of sales in May, the upward trend for Ducati North America continued, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer reaching a new 12-month high.
Ducati reports that over the past year, 10,094 motorcycles were delivered to North American customers, the number surpassing the previous record set in 2007.
Retail sales were also up, Ducati North America reporting a 26-percent gain in the second quarter verses Q2 in 2011, Ducati attributed much of the success to two new models being offered in May - the Streetfighter 848, 1199 Panigale and the Diavel Cromo, a "vintage interpretation of the powerful Diavel, with a striking chrome-plated tank and classic Ducati logos."
The second quarter of 2012 was also the eight consecutive quarter of growth.
Cristiano Silei (CEO of Ducati North America) says: "There are many factors that led us to reach this milestone, but none are as significant as the constant support we receive from our passionate customers and the tremendous contributions that are made daily by our dealer partners.
"Combined with the company's most attractive commercial and marketing programs to date and the largest product line in our history, we are confident this growth will continue into the rest of 2012."
Ducati says it will continue to strengthen its dealer network in North America. Through investments in advanced dealer trainings, new experience-based marketing initiatives, and further integration of the brand's new Retail Identity program, Ducati is poised to set a new standard in sales and service.
This news arrives two months after Audi AG confirmed it will acquire the Bologna-based motorcycle manufacturer from the Milan-based private-equity owner, Investindustrial; to read the latest on the Audi/Ducati deal, click here.
